As this is my first post, I have decided to follow the theme of Ulster plantation castles. During 2010 several visits were make to Donegal and Fermanagh where there are some fine examples of plantation castles.
Historically these ruins are evidence of our English and Scottish settlers who have been so important to the shaping and moulding of Ulster. Some of the images were published in a booklet entitled "County Donegal and the Plantation of Ulster", which marked the 400th anniversary of the Ulster Plantation, published by the Ulster Scots Community Network, and distributed to schools in County Donegal. Copies available from the Community Network.
Some of the images are reproduced below and illustrate that Northern Ireland has a tremendous heritage and is a great place to live.
